5 Things We Love about the Four-Bedroom Rye Project

Feb 26

Whether you’re ready to build your new modular home or still dreaming of the possibilities, our completed projects are a wonderful place to source inspiration. Taking a peek inside a finished home allows you to notice all the smaller, more personalised details that really make a design shine.

In this series of articles we’re revisiting some of our recently completed projects and sharing the standout features that set them apart. Today we’re featuring this stunning coastal home built on the beautiful Mornington Peninsula in Victoria. The four-bedroom Rye project is a perfect example of relaxed, modern coastal living – read on to discover 5 things we love about it.

Room to Move

Project focus - rye living area doors

Based on our Shoreham 19 design, this large and spacious home is the perfect choice for a holiday rental, and has been popular and well-received on Airbnb. The cubehaus façade allows for 9ft ceilings throughout, and the spacious living zone plus separate lounge provide ample room for one or two families to enjoy. The four bedrooms are situated along one side, and bedroom 1 includes an ensuite and walk-in robe. The large deck that wraps around one side of the house further extends the space and creates an easy flow between indoors and out.

Kitchen with Serious Style

Project focus - rye kitchen bench top

The bold and elegant design elements and inclusion of some carefully selected upgrades give the kitchen a modern and luxurious feel. The pendant lighting over the Caesarstone island bench with waterfall edge is a highlight, as is the striking dark colours of the cabinetry and tiled splashback which contrasts beautifully with the lighter walls and flooring.

The addition of a walk-in pantry adds plenty of storage space and keeps the benches clutter free, and the kitchen is ideally positioned with easy access to the spacious outdoor deck which makes alfresco dining and entertaining a breeze.

Coastal Living

Project focus - rye backyard

Our clients have included some subtle touches throughout the home that give it a beachy vibe as well as some practical features that are ideal for coastal living. The cubehaus façade fits in well with the surroundings and the exterior cladding is hard wearing Weathertex Weathergroove which is durable, low-maintenance and looks great.

The use of a feature timber wall in the bedroom adds character and the inclusion of louvre windows in the living area lets the sea breeze in. The flooring throughout the living zone is hard-wearing vinyl planks which is always a good option for a home near the beach as they are easy to clean and maintain.

Outdoor Ambiance

Project focus - rye side yard

The block includes a lovely outdoor space that is perfectly complemented by the large open decking. Ideal for entertaining, enjoying a meal or simply relaxing and enjoying the surrounds, the deck wraps around one side of the house, from the front entrance to the back. There’s easy access through two separate sliding doors from the living zone, and the slight slope in the backyard allows the deck to easily flow through to the lawn which really extends the space.

Smart Selections

The attention to detail in the design features and selections really stands out in this home, giving it a subtle, unique style. The living zone is beautifully finished, with an in-built fireplace, wall-mounted television and gorgeous pendant lighting. The abundance of windows let in plenty of natural light, and the louvre windows capture the breeze.

Perfectly Executed Coastal Holiday Home

If you’re considering building a holiday house on the coast, this home offers some great design tips. From the choice of floor plan to the carefully selected colours and finishes, our clients have built a home that is ideally suited to its coastal surrounds and will be enjoyed by all who are lucky enough to visit!

Approximate project cost: $385,000.
